The possibilities of new surgical technologies in the treatment of senile cataract are presented. Analysis of world literature and clinical practice show that the introduction of a femtosecond laser into cataract surgery allows performing removal of senile cataract at qualitatively new level. Practical recommendations on the timely dispatch of elderly patients to surgical treatment of cataracts are given.
